Henry "Hank" Bosco made his journey to heaven peacefully with family by his side on Monday, May 22nd, at Heritage Park Care Center in Carbondale, CO.

Hank was born in Glenwood Springs in 1922 and was quite literally raised in the hotel business. Hank's father Marcus "Mike" immigrated to the United States in 1908 at the age of 16 from Camarano-Casasco in the Province of Asti, in the Piedmont region. Hank's mother Felicita "Phyllis" Panier-Bosco arrived in Glenwood Springs in 1921 at the age of 23 from Pont-Canavese in the Province of Turin, also in the Piedmont region. Both came directly to Glenwood Springs to work at the Star Hotel for Mike's uncle, but did not previously know each other. They were married in Glenwood Springs, and Hank was their only child. His parents had purchased the Star Hotel, where they also lived, and later purchased the adjacent Hotel Denver, combining the two properties into what is the Hotel Denver building today.

Hank attended the University of Colo. at Boulder through his junior year, at which time Uncle Sam called for an interruption (World War II). He served from 1943-1946 in the infantry during the war and saw action in France and Germany. He also took part in the Battle of the Bulge in Belgium and received the Bronze Star Medal.

Following the war Hank graduated from the Lewis School of Hotel Management in Washington, D.C. He returned to Glenwood and became involved in the operation of the Hotel Denver. He was active in many community affairs, serving eight years on the City Council, and later as Chairman of the Planning and Zoning Commission for several years. He was also very active in the Chamber of Commerce, Kiwanis Club and Valley View Hospital Association, having served on its board during the fund raising and construction of the original hospital.

Hank was one of the original group of twenty-one families who purchased the Glenwood Hot Springs from its previous owner in 1956. There are now over ninety owners. Hank was instrumental in a program of perpetual upgrades and expansions that have made the facility one of the premier family resorts in Colorado. He served as General Manager for twenty years, stepping down in May of 1989. He continued as Chairman of the Board until his retirement in 2015 at the age of 92.

Dorothy "Dottie" Cowles (another Glenwood native) and Hank were married in 1950 and had four children; Debbie Bosco of Grand Junction, Gary (Sharon) Bosco of Glenwood Springs, John (Lauri) Bosco also of Glenwood Springs, and Gina Bosco-Cavanaugh (Mike) of Denver. Hank was blessed with eight grandchildren; Mykalea Patera, Marcus, Tony, Justin, Ryan, & Adam Bosco, and Clay & Eli Cavanaugh. Hank is preceded in death by his parents, and by his wife Dottie who passed away in 2005. Hank was a lifelong member of St. Stephen Catholic Church in Glenwood Springs.

One of Hank's favorite sayings encapsulates his humility and selflessness:

"Anything I may have accomplished during my lifetime I owe to the blessing of being able to surround myself with so many close friends, fellow employees and advisors. I humbly owe any successes to them, and any of my failures are mine alone."

There will be a visitation Tuesday, May 30, from 5:30 pm to 7:00 pm at St. Stephen Catholic Church, 1885 Blake Ave., Glenwood Springs, CO, followed by a Rosary service.

A Funeral Mass will be held 10:00 am Wednesday, May 31, at St. Stephen Catholic Church followed by interment at Rosebud Cemetery. A reception will be held at the church afterwards, and all are invited to attend and share stories about their times with Hank.
