Doris Marie Kane Bullock
July 31, 1920-November 6, 2019

Doris Bullock passed away on November 6, 2019 in New Castle, CO at age 99. Doris was born in 1920 in Greybull, Wyoming and spent most of her childhood living in several towns on the western side of the state. She graduated from Hot Springs County High School in Thermopolis,Wyoming in May 1938. Doris aspired to be an executive secretary. Her parents could not afford to buy her a typewriter so she spent hours at the high school in the summertime perfecting her typing skills. After high school graduation she attended the University of Wyoming where she met her future husband, William Bullock. Following college during the war years she worked at Headquarters at Ft. Francis E. Warren in Cheyenne, Wyoming and at Headquarters at Buckley Field in Denver. She and Bill Bullock married in 1942 in Coalville, Utah. Doris left Denver in December 1945 after the birth of her first child, Roger. She moved from Denver to Glenwood Springs to live with her in-laws, Grant and Ann Bullock. After her husband Bill was discharged from the Army, he joined his family in Glenwood Springs. Doris and Bill were blessed with two additional children, Jan and Bill Jr. They lived up Noname Creek in a four room cabin. A wood cooking stove and a living room fireplace were their only source of heat. In 1952, they moved to South Park in Glenwood Springs where they raised their three children.

In 1950, Bill and his parents opened the Bullock's store at 8th and Grand. Doris came on board when the children were older and worked until she retired in 1965. Bill continued to operate the store until 2003. Doris loved all those years at the store. She had wonderful relationships with her fellow employees and was devoted to her customers. Her favorite time of the year was Christmas because everyone who came in the store was so happy and excited about Christmas.

Doris was a fantastic cook and homemaker, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a totally selfless person, always putting her family and friends first. She loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren with all her heart and soul. She also treasured her many friends. Her love, generosity and kindness were endless. The Big Band era gave her a love for the incredible music of that day. She also loved to garden and to volunteer for community service. She always saved time to enjoy her many dogs, cats and horses. Bill and Doris enjoyed many years raising and showing Arabian horses.

Doris is survived by her children, Roger, Jan and Bill Bullock (Jill); grandchildren Justin Kochevar (Nikki), Jennifer Goolsby (Scott), Jarrod Kochevar (Jocelyn), Jessica Chapman (Travis), and nine great-grandchildren. Services will be held on Wednesday, November 13th at 2:00 p.m. at Farnum Holt Mortuary in Glenwood Springs. Burial will be on Saturday, November 16th at 2:30 p.m. in Coalville, Utah.
