Obituary for Albert James Loushin

Deacon Albert Loushin passed away peacefully at the young age of 66 on June 28, 2018 at Valley View Hospital in Glenwood Springs surrounded by family and friends. Albert was born September 9, 1951 in Aspen Colorado to Frank and Hazel Loushin. He was a lifetime resident of the valley and graduated from Aspen High School in 1970 and went on to The School of Mines in Leadville to graduate with a degree in geology.
In 1972 he began a career with the Aspen Skiing Company as a lift operator and soon became a winter lift mechanic and summer lift maintenance supervisor. His knowledge of the lift machinery was invaluable to the company. He spent 45 years with Aspen Skiing Company until his retirement just last year.
While working full time he also attended school in Denver to become a Deacon in the Catholic church. Albert was a member of The Knights of Columbus, 4th degree. He served as Deacon at many of the parishes throughout the valley and always went wherever he was needed.
His primary parish was St. Vincents in Basalt where he spent Thursday nights in prayer with the Hispanic community. He loved sharing his faith with them and the love that they felt for him was beyond words.
Albert loved music from Country to Beethoven and enjoyed going to concerts with his best friend Jimmy Gerbaz.
Deacon Albert is survived by his sister-in-law Sharla, his niece Kayla and many cousins.
Albert will be missed by so many people in this valley. We love how you gave of yourself to everyone with no questions asked. Jesus will surely welcome you with open arms.
